Before I started Borders College i found myself sticking to ONLY anime and cartoon drawing sketches, Since starting college i have found that by limiting myself to drawing 1 style for many years I had ruined the way that i looked at art and how I drew anything. Everything that i attempted to draw such as a life model or a building and even things like cars came out looking like cartoons and anime.
Borders college has completely changed my perspective on art, I feel i have developed a better sense of style and my art is slowly but steadily getting better.
To sum it up my question's are :-
Since starting Borders College what have you found out about your art and how has your art improved over the time you have been there???
and...
Has anyone else stuck to one style of art that you feel has limited yourself in a different movement/style of art??
When it comes down to Anime and Manga I am a repeat offender lol, well my skills in shading is close to awesome, my still life drawings are so much better, (as soon as I get used to it) my life drawing is pretty good, and (even though I rushed it at the end) my botanics wasn't too bad... I thought I was going to suck badly at it.
ReplyDeleteAnd after two years, I STILL draw Manga; but seriously, Manga is like my life ^_^;

Since starting borders college i have discovered that being able to draw well and creating a piece of art are two different things. I have learned a lot about the history of art and i have been able to try out printmaking which is something i had never tried before.
ReplyDeleteAs for sticking to one style of art i have been through many phases like manga illustrations, portraits, landscape painting and digital painting so i have'nt really stuck to one specific style of art.
Hmmm.... to answer 2 questions with one answer I'd say I've learned-and feel like-I do not have my own certain style of drawing. I've noticed that nearly everyone in the class has there own cool style, but I seem to have not defined mine yet, I'm all over the place...which annoys me! :P. Hopefully time will let me grow into my own style of work.
ReplyDeleteBorders college has seriously made me look at my own work and want to improve so so sooo much more, especially after seeing other class mates work and thinking to myself 'awwww man. What the hell have I drawn compared to THAT!'. So THANK YOU Borders College. :)
My experience at borders college has opened my eye's and mind to art, i have started to look at different styles of Art in a more open and curious mind. I have learned that my own style needs to loosen up a bit to develop, its all a learning curve!!
