Botanics

As part of my research for Botanics I have been looking at the work of Elizabeth Blackadder.
This watercolour and dip pen is my version of Elizabeth Blackadder's Orchids - hers was an etching and aquatint done on paper in 1985. My plan is to repeat it as a drypoint etching and watercolour.

My apologies for the quality of the image - I always have a problem photographing paintings and would welcome any tips. Hopefully its a topic we will cover in college sometime.

  2. There are a few E Blackadder pieces on display at the City Art Centre in Edinburgh at the moment. The one that stood out for me was a large (A1) painting of purple orchids...surprisingly quite loose. I think they are part of the Garden themed exhibition on the 3rd level?
