Opinions?

Came across this when I was reading Daily Mail online, as they do feature some art/artist articles and wondered what you thought some of these pieces this artist has done, this one's abit odd but the photographs are really interesting to look at seeing all the different shapes and colours making them  look out of this world:

there's also this one that i showed some people in class a few months ago which i think shows  Paul Cadden's amazing technical skills:

So what do you think? :)

  1. Hi Annie
To be honest I think Heiki Leis should move on - 7 years of photographing rotten food is more than anyone can stomach
On the other hand the photography of Paul Cadden must be exceptional if his drawings are anything to go by - or is it the other way round?
I suppose what I'm saying is this artists drawing skills are amazing - but - I would get the same emotional response from his photographs because they are identical.
Wonder if he sells his photos !!!??!1

  2. I have to agree with Ann here...yes he has incredible ability and it is breath taking but it doesn't do it for me. I just can't get round how technically brilliant they are. That's it they don't leave you wondering, there is a distinct lack of poetry about them. I think I'm correct in saying that he uses other peoples' photographs as well as his own? I'll go back for another look. Rotten food again interesting but I think it lacks creativity.

  3. I loved the photography! i am i huge fan of when an artist can take something that is generally considered disgusting or stomach turning and find the beauty in it!
As he explains this is a process that takes months at least - just to let the veg rot!so i don't blame him if he has been working on this for 7 years! the patience he must have to wait for that perfect shot! Good job in my eyes with beautiful results! the collapsing pumpkin was my favorite!

  4. When I first looked at the photographs of the rotting fruit and veg I thought they were disgusting, but when I looked more closely I found some of them quite interesting, especially the different colours and how they didn't just look like rotten food.
I still find it hard to believe that Paul Cadden's work isn't photographs, his skill is amazing.

  5. hhmmm the veg photograph is a bit differant guess, it kinda reminds me of a chemical mushroom cloud *IRONY, but tbh i dont think its my cup of tea i find that image in my fridge every other day and it just grosses me out *like finding a blow dried mouse. now that pencil drawing; it's just somthing else, i couldn't get over it wasnt a photo. but just to be controversial, you could always argue that it may as well of been; true that would take an extraordinary amount of skill and patience but also lacks artistic license.
