Adriana Curcio

http://www.adrianacurcio.com/  a photographer im using for EST.
As part of our Botanics unit I have been concentrating mostly on photography.  While researching, I came across a photographer called Andy Small who specialises in botanical photography. I personally really like his images and was wondering what your opinions are?

Illustration

When researching for my specialist techniques I found out about the fashion illustrator Stina Persson and her technique of dripping paint and letting the colours bleed together while still creating a detailed and interesting image. I really like her work and am interested in her technique. You can take a look at her website and let me know what you think of her work:http://www.stinapersson.com/

“Go be that starving Artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world. You’ll thank yourself for it.”

Botanics

As part of my research for Botanics I have been looking at the work of Elizabeth Blackadder.
This watercolour and dip pen is my version of Elizabeth Blackadder's Orchids - hers was an etching and aquatint done on paper in 1985. My plan is to repeat it as a drypoint etching and watercolour.

My apologies for the quality of the image - I always have a problem photographing paintings and would welcome any tips. Hopefully its a topic we will cover in college sometime.
